Current Research

Justin Litvin and Dr. Patricia L. Kaminski are currently identifying interpretation guidelines for the Complex Trauma Inventory (CTI). They are also developing a CTI screener and a structured clinical interview to assess the ICD-11 trauma disorders. Additionally, they are collaborating with Dr. Anthony Ryals (https://psychology.unt.edu/unt-neurocognitive-laboratory/people) to explore differences in pupil dilation between people diagnosed with ICD-11 PTSD and CPTSD.

Andrew Pereira and Dr. Patricial L. Kaminski are working together on publishing two journal articles on past disordered eating and exercise behavior (DE/EB) research, Andrew's doctoral dissertation on intersectional analysis of cultural factors related to DE/EBs, and overseeing Scientia Conquisitor Lab administrative duties. Specifically Andrew's work is interested in applying minority stress and intersectional theories to the investigation of gay and bisexual men's behavioral outcomes.

Carlie McGregor and Dr. Patricia L. Kaminski are currently exploring relationships between self-concept and specific sub facets of self-concept with psychological outcomes, such as depression. Specifically, they are examining men's perceptions related to BMI and weight, and how such perceptions influence men's well-being.

Nina Calmenson Istrin is currently working on her doctoral dissertation with Dr. Patricia L. Kaminski. They will be looking at self, parent and Primary Care Provider perceptions of functioning in children with ADHD. They will also continue to analyze the validity of current assessment tools for developmental disorders.

Nick Ross is currently overseeing the following projects: (1) a qualitative interviewing project on adult heterosexual women's shame experiences related to having endured intimate partner violence; (2) a longitudinal experiment recruiting survivors of childhood trauma. This study tests the effects of a self-compassion writing task on depressive symptoms, shame-proneness, and theory of mind performance; (3) a cross-sectional study examining the links between childhood trauma, self-compassion, shame, social connectedness, and depressive symptoms; (4) Nick is also involved in preparing a manuscript on Jay Belsky's ecological of empathic parenting.
