Student Admissions, Outcomes, and Other Data

The Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas provides the following student, education and training outcome data, and financial information in response to directives from the APA Office of Accreditation. The information provided below includes data concerning applicants, admitted students, internship acceptance rates, time to program completion, student attrition rates, and financial cost. Our program uses a process of holistic review for admissions, and admission is not determined by one criterion or quantitative measure of achievement. Motivation, aptitude, self-awareness, and interpersonal poise are highly valued, as are skills in communication, research methods, and professional/scientific writing.

The maximum amount of credit for appropriate prior graduate work is 30 semester hours, providing the work was accomplished in a department offering a doctoral degree in psychology. An entering student may request to waive a combination of program (no more than 12 hours) and departmental course requirements up to this limit. This may reduce the length of time for completion of the program, but this varies by individual and cannot be assured. Students may download the "Course Transfer Form" from the following website when attempting to transfer graduate coursework into the doctoral program: http://psychology.unt.edu/graduate-programs/counseling-psychology/forms
