The focus of Dr. Guillot's research is to identify the motivational underpinnings of addictive behaviors, particularly personality traits, cognitive dispositions, and emotional states/traits. Thus, Dr. Guillot is broadly interested in the etiology of addictive behaviors (i.e., substance use and other addictive behaviors), the psychopharmacology of drugs (e.g., acute and withdrawal effects), and the differential manifestation of addictive behaviors in relation to individual differences (e.g., racial/ethnic, sex/gender/sexuality, etc.). Other research interests include aggressive and self-harm behaviors (i.e., behaviors related to impulse control).
Research Projects - Data Collection Ongoing
A Study on Experiences of Discrimination, Personality, Mood, and Substance and Internet Use (SONA Survey Study #3)
The primary purpose of this survey study is to provide a cross-sample replication (in relation to the previous MTurk sample) in investigating potential interrelations and interactions between discrimination experiences (e.g., microaggressions), personality traits, mood symptoms, and health behaviors (e.g., cigarette, electronic cigarette, alcohol, and cannabis use; social media use and gaming) with a college student sample large enough to allow for the examination of subgroups (e.g., based on race/ethnicity, sex/gender, and sexual orientation).
Research Projects - Data Collection Complete
A Study on Discrimination Experiences, Personality, Mood, and Health Behaviors (Amazon MTurk Survey Study #1)
The primary purpose of this survey study is to investigate potential interrelations and interactions between discrimination experiences (e.g., microaggressions), personality traits, mood symptoms, and health behaviors (e.g., cigarette, electronic cigarette, alcohol, cannabis, and prescription opioid use; social media use and gaming) in a large U.S adult sample that allows for the examination of subgroups (e.g., based on race/ethnicity, sex/gender, and sexual orientation).
A Study on Stress, Personality, Mood, and Substance and Internet Use
(SONA Survey Study #2)
The primary purpose of this survey study is to improve on SONA Survey Study #1 by expanding on the investigation of potential interrelations and interactions between trauma exposure, PTSD symptoms, personality traits, mood, and substance and internet use (e.g., alcohol and cannabis use; social media use and gaming).
A Study on Stress, Personality, Mood, and Substance Use (SONA Survey Study #1)
The primary purpose of this survey study is to investigate potential interrelations and interactions between trauma exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, personality traits, mood, and substance use (primarily alcohol).
